Day 10
Started day 10 at 5-00 am with a coffee and watching another lesson in the Blog By Number Course – Well what else do you do at 5 o’clock in the morning.
Interesting content today covering plugins to enhance functionality, improve speed and protect my blog from spam.
A big shout out to Suzy & John for making the Blog By Numbers course so easy to follow. I am using the course as a reset to refresh my past knowledge and use of WordPress and to bring me up to speed with the latest version of WordPress and really pleased with the Kadence WordPress Theme they recommended.
I have added and activated the following plugins today.
- Akismet (Personal Account) to prevent spam comments
- Instant Images – Direct Access to Unsplash Royalty Free Image Library
- Pre Publish Check List – Great for making sure everything has been completed before publishing
- Smush – Reduces Image File sizes to help with speed performance and allows Laz Loading of images.
- Pretty Links – Great for creating user friendly affiliate links
This has been a superb foundation for setting up my main blogs and by testing here at seednextyear.com I can iron out any issues before introducing anything to my main blogs.
I am so pleased with just how easy the free version of Kadence has been, I am going to work with the theme and include tutorials to support the Youtube Video Challenge. A triple win as I get to learn how to use the Kadence Theme and Create Tutorials as practice for the Youtube Video Challenge and may just create some affiliate commissions from the video descriptions.
It may be possible to create a paid product series using Copycat Guides as baby step manuals for elements of Kadence WP Theme and Plugins.
